Tamil Nadu Medical Services Corporation (TNMSC) Tender

Responding to medical tenders could be a tricky affair as they are different from several general tender categories. Many medical tenders contain indent for items that require a legal valid pharmaceutical license. The prospective bidder has to keep this aspect in mind, while responding to any TNMSC tender

Tamil Nadu Medical Services Corporation Limited (TNMSC) is a public sector undertaking under the Health and Family Welfare Department in the State of Tamil Nadu. It works with an objective of ensuring ready availability of all types of essential drugs as well as medications in the government medical institutions in the state. In its pursuit of providing quality medication and drugs, TNMSC procures different types of pharmaceutical products. Only enterprises that are duly licensed by the Drug Controlling authorities in the state can provide those materials. An example is the procurement of poison management centres for different hospitals that require certain levels of training and expertise on the part of the provider.

Things to Remember
Some of the requisites with the bidder for responding to TNMSC tenders are as follows:
  • Bidder should carefully go through the contents of the tender notification.
  • Most important thing to keep note of is the dateline by which the tender should be filed with all requisite documents and details.
  • The tender process is to read out all the bids made by bidders at the bid opening time.
  • Bidder should make ensure inclusion of the clause for “entry tax and transportation charges to be payable by TNMSC” in the bid.

Avoiding Bid Rejection
Some of the main reasons leading to rejection of bids in TNMSC tenders are as follows:
  • Bidder has claimed exemption from payment of bid security on the ground that it is so exempted under the existing law of the land being a cooperative society or privileged organization. However, most of the tenders are sponsored by World Bank and no exemption is allowed. Hence bidder should ensure first whether the specific exemption allowed is applicable in case of the tender floated by TNMSC or not.
  • Furnishing bank guarantee in only bank letterhead instead of non-judicial stamp paper may lead to bid rejection.
  • It is important to furnish the technical compliance statement and signed copy of technical specification in respect of equipments, drugs, and medications.

Taking care of the above factors can make the response to TNMSC tender near perfect and reducing the chances of rejection considerably. A successful bid on tenders floated by TNMSC could be highly rewarding.
